Autumn Crafting for kids

There is about two whole things that I love about Autumn, #1 Boots! and #2 the falling leaves/changing colors. That being said, when fall starts to fall I start to stay "in" more often... drink hot cocoa, and have movie nights as well as crafting time.

I am very blessed to have two kids that love to do crafts with me. My oldest is so in tune with crafts, as you saw last week, so I know she is going to enjoy this one once she sees it!

I found it over at Pinterest, of course.

I'm so in love with these and can not trace back the link :/

However, I found this one too, and it is just as adorable! This blog is where this links too.

Can't wait! When we are done you shall be sure we will share our end result ;)

Wait! It's October?!

EEkkk.. I'm not scared over here, I am freaking out! I am not ready for this Halloween thing at all! I need to get the girls their costumes, but more importantly, we had traditions in the Midwest... I know where Nothing is here. I don't have a clue where we will be going and trick or treating. I guess I need to get to Google-ing some stuff. I need to go shopping!

While I go get some crap done, here are some cute images from Halloween's past:

My eldest is a crafty one, I may have even shared this one before, but I am just so proud of it/her.

Here is one of the "Chipmunk girls" with her Halloween costume, Yeap you guessed it: ghost!
Cute huh?!

Fall is Falling into my life

Loads of changes are happening in my life, more on that later. These changes, however, are accompanied by vibrant & beautiful Fall. While we have changed states, we will still be having a four season year, so I can not wait to see the vibrance here! In the meantime, lets take a look backward for a picture shall we?

We take a hayride every year with my grandparents, aunts & uncles, as well as cousins. This year we will not be able to attend, but looking at this picture will take the place this year. I just adore that this road will be forever etched into my mind, going back to my seven year old self. <3 i="">

Full Bloom Autumn…

I have a confession to make… I really am a Spring person. I am not a big fan of the winter, but I can appreciate fall.

This past weekend, I traveled to Ohio to visit my grandmother… on the way back, I couldn’t help but take a few pictures. People probably thought I was crazy stopping and taking pictures of trees, but aren’t they just Beautiful?!

Pumpkin’s

Guess what we did this weekend?

IMG_1138

Finally got those pumpkins carved! Alisa & Maya started off be drawing with a sharpie. They did a great job! I was impressed by far… Alisa is a little artist in her own right, but Maya doesn’t ever draw. I Mean NEVER, and her’s looked awesome.

Once the girls were done drawing, my husband took the tops off, so that we could get “all the cheese stuff” out. I guess when my girls saw this on television, they thought it was shredded cheese inside… hahahah I guess, it’s orange, stringy, but what they didn’t realize is that it is SLIMMMY! My oldest kept repeating “ewww gross, ewww gross”, my youngest would not even touch it.

Look @ his lazy eye, and his sharp teeth!

What to do… love your 3 yr old!

The other day, I was commenting on how it warmed up around Indiana, with this came more flowers. Do you remember, I blogged about how happy I was to have these flowers again in the middle of fall?

Well, When I came home from work a few days ago, I got a BIG surprise! You know how little kids can be, right?! How they can destroy something so quickly, but do it with sooo much innocents?

I found all of these lovely flower heads on the ground lying around its plant. URgh!

Well.. when life gives you flowers with NO stems, make a flower arrangement anyway possible right?!

Not too bad I’d say ;)

Balloon Artists

I have been around my fair share of balloon artists in my life. As you already know, I am kinda overzealous about fairs and festivals. With them come balloon artists, right? Well, I thought I saw it all… I mean ducks, swords, hearts on a swirly staph, even full on princesses! How in the world the imagination works is beyond me, but then to make it into something that makes MY daughters imagination soar, now that I love! <3

As you can see, she was elated to have these amazing fairy wings. Now if only I could have a balloon artist around on Halloween.. she could be Tinkerbell ;)

Thanks again Twister Mike!

Silly Phrases & Weird Pumpkins…

I know it has been wickedly {pun intended} long since I wrote last. I had “company” as my grandma use to say, in fact that is who it was. It’s always lovely to have grandmas around, & especially lots of fun for the little ones. Lots of spoiling went on this past week!

We got to “run the roads” & “get a bite to eat” ALL week long. Don’t you just love old people lingo :) Makes me feel warm & cozy inside when I hear these certain sayings. What about you, do your grandparents/elders have funny lingo that makes you smile every time?

My youngest got a big girl bed out of this visit, lucky little girl, but didn’t sleep in it till grandma left. She was busy cuddling with grandma every night.

While she was here we Finally. got to go to the pumpkin patch. My girls had a lot of fun in the short time we got to stay. We went on a Friday, so between being pressed for time, and the fact that it is getting super chilly here… we didn’t stay much past getting pumpkins.

IMG_1117

Lovely pumpkins they are, though, don’t you think? Every year we have to do a “family” set of pumpkins. My dear husband makes fun with me every year, “Mommy has to get a weird pumpkin again”. One year it was a curly stem, the next year a white one, & this year? Mine is the green one… isn’t she a beauty? <3

In need of Pumpkins…

Did you pick out your Pumpkins yet? Although a lovely picture, I am ashamed to say we still haven’t went to the Pumpkin Patch. There is not enough weekends in a month! How about all of you out there, do you visit the pumpkin patch, or just buy at the store?

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

So I know I had been having a hard time letting go of Summer this year {cause it was just too much darn fun!} But a few days ago two wonderful things happen:

1. My oldest started to notice the trees are changing colors. Every time she {or her little sister} spots one, she points it out and laughs about it. Isn’t it amazing how you “rediscover” everything for the first time through your child’s eyes?! The other day on our way to the library, my daughter saw a “yellow tree”, and last night at the supper table my youngest noticed the tree in our front yard is changing too. They <3 it!

2. My mums are coming up big & better than ever this year. I purposely planted the burnt orange ones in front of our home, to remind me that Autumn is in bloom, literally. Does orange signal Autumn for you too? I took a few photos to share with you… enjoy!

Fall Mantel Idea

P1000891

Well you know how I romanticize about craft shows, right? Well I took this picture a couple years back, and re-came-across it. How lovely of a mantel would this make? I think it is time to start searching for all those lovely mini pumpkins! :)

Time to Fall into Fall…

Sorry for the lack of writing yesterday, we had visitors from California. While the California family goes back to their sunshine and warmth, it is starting to cool down a little in Indiana. Luckily for us, it is still “warm enough” out, but the leaves are changing, and we all know what is around the corner…

P1020512

For now, however, it is Fall and the craftiness is in full bloom about this time! Fall brings dreamy things like: woven baskets, lawn ornaments for Halloween & Thanksgiving, stuffed knicknacks, and beautiful wreaths. I adore the crafting side of festivals, fairs, and bazaars!

P1020510

Two weeks ago we went to my newest favorite, the Blueberry Festival. I discovered it a few years back, no matter what the plans for Labor Day, I try to include it.

We might not have Palms in Indiana, but we have handmade goods at their best :)

But, of course, the real reason the girls came along? The kettle corn… yummmm

{another one of Indiana’s finest}

Fall is near…

Look what I found in the closet today. Perfect for Fall, right? Many moons ago, when I moved in my first apartment alone, I was on a very limited budget. I had to turn to something very creative for wall artwork, hence this beauty. I hunted all these leaves on my long walks (my non-cable entertainment). Needless to say this artwork piece means a lot to me. So what you think? Is it as pretty as it is special?

P1020548

I saw something on Pinterest today as well that made me think of this… the pin was showing you how to dip your leaves in wax to preserve the color. I really wish I would have done that.
